Mercor is hiring on behalf of a leading AI research lab for a Linguistic Expert – French (France). This part-time, in-person role is available at client offices in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, London, or Singapore. You'll play a crucial role in improving AI systems by ensuring high-quality language coverage, accuracy, and cultural relevance for French as spoken in France.

As a Linguistic Expert, you'll collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to refine models' understanding and generation of French, ensuring outputs are grammatically correct, contextually appropriate, and culturally aligned.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and annotate AI-generated text in French (France) for accuracy, fluency, and cultural relevance
• Provide expert feedback on grammar, semantics, style, and tone
• Develop linguistic guidelines and documentation to improve consistency in AI outputs
• Collaborate with research teams to identify language-specific challenges and nuances
• Suggest enhancements to training datasets and language models

Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in French (France) and fluency in English
• Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, semantics, and stylistics
• Ability to identify and correct subtle linguistic and cultural nuances
• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Literature, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
• Prior experience in linguistic annotation, translation, or content review preferred
• Familiarity with AI, NLP, or language technologies is a bonus
