Litigation Expert at Mercor

Litigation Expert | $100–120/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're seeking experienced litigators from AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 500 in-house litigation groups to recreate the digital workspaces they use daily and design tasks that genuinely challenge state-of-the-art AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Build a high-fidelity digital workspace mirroring your real litigation practice — including pleadings, motions, deposition summaries, discovery requests, exhibit lists, case chronologies, expert reports, and email threads
• Represent the platforms you use daily (e.g., Relativity / Nuix Discover, Westlaw / LexisNexis, Clio / MyCase)
• Design multi-step tasks grounded in real workflows — spanning pre-litigation, pleadings, discovery, motions, trial/settlement, and post-judgment phases — that meaningfully challenge frontier AI agents
• Collaborate asynchronously with fellow litigation experts to review scenarios for realism and rigor
• Work with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for litigation AI benchmarks
• Directly contribute to how leading AI labs train and evaluate the next generation of AI systems

Ideal Qualifications

• JD and active bar admission
• 3+ years of full-time litigation experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or Fortune 500 in-house litigation group
• Background in one or more of the following areas:
  • Commercial or complex-commercial litigation
  • Securities, consumer-class, or antitrust litigation
  • IP litigation (patent, trademark, trade secret)
  • Employment, labor, or discrimination litigation
  • White-collar defense or regulatory enforcement (SEC, DOJ, CFTC, FTC)
• Day-to-day proficiency with Relativity (RelativityOne) / Nuix Discover, Westlaw / LexisNexis, and Clio / MyCase
• Strong analytical thinking and writing — able to translate complex litigation workflows into structured task specifications

Compensation

This role begins at an effective hourly rate of $100–$120/hr, with a planned transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality output.
