Machine Learning Engineer | Remote
Pay: Up to $140 per hour • Hourly Contract • Flexible Hours

Mercor is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join a major AI research initiative focused on benchmarking and improving model performance and training speed across diverse ML tasks. This multi-phase pilot project evaluates human-led planning and implementation workflows, making it ideal for professionals passionate about reproducible research and benchmarking AI development pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed, executable natural language plans for ML-related Kaggle competition tasks.

• Implement those plans in Python code within a provided Docker environment.

• Validate implementations against original plans and identify discrepancies.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in applied machine learning or MLE roles.

• Strong Python engineering skills for model training and data handling.

• Familiarity with Docker-based development environments.

• Meticulous approach to technical planning and code validation.

• Preferred: Experience with reproducibility and benchmarking in ML research.

• Comfortable working independently under strict compliance requirements.

Opportunity Details

• Fully remote and asynchronous work; set your own hours.

• Estimated 20 hours per week.

• Project duration: 4 to 6 weeks.

Compensation and Terms

• Up to $140 per hour USD depending on region and experience.

• Weekly payments via Stripe Connect.

• Independent contractor engagement.
