MICRO1 is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer with deep expertise in FreeCAD and parametric CAD modeling. This is a remote contractor opportunity ideal for an experienced mechanical design professional who thrives in applied engineering environments and can deliver high-quality, manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies using FreeCAD
• Create precise parametric models that support design flexibility and iteration
• Produce comprehensive engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure producibility and cost-effectiveness
• Perform CAD validation and quality assurance to verify design integrity
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align mechanical designs with project requirements

Required Skills

• FreeCAD — proficient in parametric and assembly modeling
• Mechanical Design — strong foundational knowledge of engineering principles
• 3D CAD Modeling & Assembly Design — experience with complex assemblies
• Engineering Drawings — ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings
• CAD Validation & QA — ensuring accuracy and compliance of design outputs
• Technical Documentation — clear, thorough documentation practices
