MICRO1 is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer with deep expertise in FreeCAD and parametric CAD modeling. This is a remote contractor opportunity ideal for an experienced mechanical design professional who thrives in applied engineering environments and can deliver high-quality, manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies using FreeCAD
- Create precise parametric models that support design flexibility and iteration
- Produce comprehensive engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure producibility and cost-effectiveness
- Perform CAD validation and quality assurance to verify design integrity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align mechanical designs with project requirements
Required Skills
- FreeCAD — proficient in parametric and assembly modeling
- Mechanical Design — strong foundational knowledge of engineering principles
- 3D CAD Modeling & Assembly Design — experience with complex assemblies
- Engineering Drawings — ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings
- CAD Validation & QA — ensuring accuracy and compliance of design outputs
- Technical Documentation — clear, thorough documentation practices
- Design for Manufacturing — practical understanding of manufacturing constraints
