Market Curation Editor (Sports) | Contractor | Worldwide Remote

Join a fast-moving Product Data Operations team supporting a new social-predictions app in beta launch. As a Market Curation Editor specializing in Sports, you'll serve as the critical human judgment layer over an automated market-generation pipeline — approving, editing, and enriching sports prediction markets daily across professional and collegiate leagues.

What You'll Do

  • Review a daily queue of system-generated sports prediction markets against firm completion deadlines, working event by event across every market a fixture generates.
  • Assess each candidate market for factual accuracy, clarity, and adjudicable resolution criteria tied to authoritative sources and defined settlement dates.
  • Verify correct open and close timing for each event, accounting for scheduled and unscheduled delays.
  • Apply the appropriate settlement conventions per league — overtime, shootouts, postponements, abandonments, minimum-play thresholds on player props, and official statistical corrections.
  • Confirm policy compliance against community standards and content guidelines, escalating ambiguous or sensitive cases rather than making unsupported calls.
  • Approve, edit, or reject each candidate market with a structured, categorized reason — this record is a core product deliverable.
  • Rewrite question and resolution language for precision and authentic fan voice.
  • Author timestamped clarifications for live market ambiguities and resolve settlement exceptions the data feed cannot handle.
  • Proactively scan live markets for errors and monitor schedules, team news, and social platforms for events the pipeline missed.
  • Participate in weekly calibration reviews to maintain consistency with published guidelines and fellow curators.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years in sports trading, sports data operations, sports journalism/editorial, or a comparable role requiring deep, current subject-matter expertise.
  • Demonstrable, active fluency in professional and collegiate sports — following it now, not historically.
  • Strong familiarity with sports culture and sports social media, including trades, free agency, and breaking news sources.
  • Working knowledge of official rules and settlement conventions for major leagues, and which sources are authoritative for results and statistics.
  • Proven judgment on edge cases: suspended/abandoned events, statistical corrections, contested outcomes, and ambiguous official rulings.
  • Exceptional written precision under deadline — able to draft unambiguous resolution rules that hold up after the outcome is known.
  • Comfort applying a structured policy framework, with the instinct to escalate rather than guess.
  • Flexible availability for evening, overnight, and weekend work around live events.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with prediction markets, sportsbooks, exchanges, or DFS platforms as a trader or power user.
  • Background on a trading desk or as a super-user of prediction apps.
  • Sports journalism experience or contributions to style guides, rulebooks, or annotation standards.
  • Familiarity with content policy, moderation frameworks, or editorial standards.

How Success Is Measured

  • Consistent, on-time completion of the daily market queue.
  • High decision quality — strong agreement with peers and leads on calibration samples, and a low rate of published markets requiring void, amendment, or resettlement.
  • Structured, specific, and correctly categorized rejection reasons.
  • Published questions that survive contact with the actual outcome without dispute.
  • Proactive surfacing of relevant events and markets the pipeline didn't generate.
