AFTERQUERY is seeking experienced materials scientists and engineers to develop selection and failure analysis scenarios used by frontier AI labs to evaluate and test model judgment. This is a fully remote, asynchronous contract role with weekly pay.
What You'll Do
- Design and document realistic materials selection scenarios that challenge AI model reasoning
- Build failure analysis case studies grounded in real-world engineering contexts
- Apply deep domain expertise to ensure technical accuracy and rigor across scenarios
- Communicate complex materials reasoning clearly in written English for use in AI evaluation pipelines
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related field
- 2+ years of professional experience in materials engineering or R&D
- Demonstrated depth in at least one materials class — metals, polymers, ceramics, or semiconductors
- Strong written English skills for documenting technical reasoning clearly and precisely
- Ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week
Compensation & Details
- Rate: $100–$130/hr depending on experience
- Schedule: Fully asynchronous — work on your own time
- Payment: Paid weekly
- Location: 100% remote, open worldwide
