Math & Python Specialist (Scientific Computation) | Contractor | Worldwide Remote

Turing is seeking highly qualified Math and Python specialists to join a computation-intensive scientific coding project for a global client. This is a fully remote contractor role requiring strong mathematical foundations, hands-on numerical methods experience, and the ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into clean, testable Python code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mathematical algorithms for scientific computational tasks.
  • Write efficient Python code using SciPy and related numerical libraries.
  • Design and execute mathematical test cases to validate correctness and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to refine requirements and ensure mathematical accuracy.
  • Document methods, assumptions, and results clearly and professionally.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Intermediate-level Python expertise with practical scientific computing experience.
  • Working knowledge of SciPy and numerical computation workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to create mathematical test cases in Python.
  • Academic or practical experience with Numerical Approximation.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Google Colab for collaborative coding.
  • Ability to write and format mathematical content using LaTeX.
  • Strong technical writing and remote communication skills.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week (options: 20, 30, or 40 hrs/week) with 4-hour PST overlap daily.
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits).
  • Duration: 6-month contract with potential for extension based on performance.
