Medical Expert – Dermatology | Contractor | Remote (US Only)

Turing is seeking a licensed, practicing US-based Dermatologist to evaluate and improve AI-generated medical content for frontier large language models (LLMs). This is a fully remote, flexible freelance engagement at the cutting edge of healthcare AI — ideal for clinicians interested in shaping the future of responsible AI in medicine.

About Turing

Based in San Francisco, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing helps accelerate frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top-tier AI expertise across coding, reasoning, STEM, and more.

Role Overview

As a Medical Expert in Dermatology, you will review AI-generated clinical content and dermatology images using a structured online evaluation platform. Your expert input will directly improve the accuracy, safety, and clinical relevance of LLM outputs in the medical domain.

What You'll Do

  • Review AI-generated medical text for accuracy, completeness, and potential harm — with a focus on dermatology.
  • Evaluate AI-produced diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical summaries for dermatologic cases.
  • Assess dermatology images for quality and diagnostic usability, identifying issues such as blur, lighting, exposure, color, and framing.
  • Where applicable, identify likely skin conditions, assign confidence ratings, and document clinical rationale.
  • Provide structured expert feedback to improve the medical integrity and safety of LLM outputs.
  • Collaborate with AI researchers and clinicians to align model performance with evidence-based dermatology standards.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States (mandatory).
  • Licensed MD or MBBS with specialization in Dermatology or equivalent qualification.
  • Fully licensed and actively practicing medicine within the USA.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-residency experience as a practicing Dermatologist.
  • Strong visual attention to detail; comfortable reviewing sensitive or graphic medical images.
  • Technically proficient — able to navigate web-based annotation platforms, use image tools, follow detailed guidelines, and complete structured questionnaires accurately.
  • Prior experience in medical content review, clinical research, annotation, or AI/ML evaluation is a plus.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contractor / Freelancer (no medical or paid leave)
  • Commitment: At least 4 hours/day, 40 hours/week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST
  • Duration: 12 weeks

Why Work with Turing?

  • Work on cutting-edge AI development in the healthcare space.
  • Fully remote and flexible work environment.
  • Gain direct exposure to advanced LLMs and insight into how they are trained and evaluated.
