Norwegian Language Expert at Mercor

Norwegian Language Expert | $50/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking a Norwegian Audio Generalist Evaluator Expert to support a high-impact AI audio research project with a leading research lab. This short-term, part-time engagement (10–20 hrs/week) is ideal for fluent Norwegian speakers with strong analytical skills who want to contribute to cutting-edge language model development.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe & Optimize Audio/Video: Listen to, analyze, and transcribe Norwegian audio and video content with strict attention to tone, register, and regional variation.
• Define Evaluation Standards: Develop rubrics and grading guidelines in Norwegian and English, documenting linguistic nuances and edge cases to ensure consistency across evaluators.
• Model Testing & Grading: Run prompts through language models, assess outputs for accuracy, fluency, and completeness, and provide structured feedback to improve Norwegian audio task performance.
• Benchmarking & QA: Participate in quality assurance cycles, maintain dataset reliability, and collaborate with project leads to refine task design.

Minimum Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Norwegian (spoken and written) and professional fluency in English.
• Strong writing, editing, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to accurately transcribe and analyze Norwegian audio across general consumer contexts.
• Self-directed with strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Availability to commit 10–20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• College students or recent graduates welcome.
• Background in linguistics, humanities, social sciences, journalism, or technical fields.
• Prior experience with transcription, annotation, localization, or research workflows in Norwegian.
• Familiarity with Norwegian dialectal variations and contemporary usage.
• Interest in AI, language models, or applied research environments.
