Oncologist – AI Research Consultant | $150–200/hr | Remote (US Only)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to advance frontier medical AI in oncology. We are seeking actively practicing oncologists in the United States with hands-on clinical trial experience to help identify gaps in AI reasoning and support the development of cutting-edge medical AI models. This is a short-term, high-impact remote engagement with potential for extension based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design realistic, nuanced oncology tasks and clinical scenarios — with a focus on clinical trials — that expose weaknesses in AI model responses
• Evaluate AI-generated clinical reasoning for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current standard-of-care guidelines
• Identify flawed logic, missed diagnoses, incomplete treatment rationale, or unsafe recommendations in model outputs
• Provide clear, well-structured expert responses and chain-of-thought reasoning that reflect real-world clinical decision-making
• Uphold high standards of clinical rigor and accuracy across all contributions

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO with a completed oncology fellowship (medical, surgical, or radiation oncology)
• Currently practicing in the United States
• Active involvement in or direct experience with oncology clinical trials (as PI, sub-investigator, or treating physician)
• Deep familiarity with clinical trial protocols, eligibility criteria, and regulatory considerations (e.g., IRB, FDA, RECIST criteria)
• Ability to articulate clinical reasoning clearly and precisely in written form
• Strong attention to detail when evaluating the accuracy and safety of AI-generated medical content
