Optics and Photonics Expert | $100/hr | Worldwide Remote

AFTERQUERY is seeking experienced optics and photonics professionals for a flexible, project-based remote role. You will design challenging technical problems, author expert-level reference solutions, and evaluate submitted work for correctness and depth — all on your own schedule with no set hours or meetings required.

What You'll Do

• Design realistic, expert-level technical problems in optics, photonics, or electromagnetic systems
• Author detailed reference solutions demonstrating depth and correctness
• Evaluate and assess submitted work for technical accuracy and rigor
• Work fully asynchronously on a project-by-project basis

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on experience modeling optical, photonic, or electromagnetic systems
• Working proficiency with at least one simulation tool such as Lumerical, Zemax, Code V, RSoft, COMSOL, Ansys HFSS, CST, Meep, or Tidy3D
• Currently or recently active in the field with practical, hands-on experience
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
