About the Role
You will work on music transcription, analysis, and evaluation tasks tailored to Oromo-language music. The core challenge involves transcribing melodies by ear with accurate pitch and rhythm, while also identifying key, tempo, and time signature. Handling sung lyrics in Oromo — including varied accents and less-than-perfect vocal delivery — is a critical part of the work.
Requirements
- Formal musical training or professional experience (music degree, or several years as a musician, composer, transcriber, audio engineer, or music teacher)
- Strong ear for pitch, rhythm, key, tempo, and time signature
- High fluency in Oromo, with the ability to accurately interpret sung lyrics
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated working style
Engagement Details
- Commitment: 2–5 hours per week (pilot phase)
- Rate: $50–$70/hr
