Aerospace / Flight-Dynamics Engineer | Contractor | 5-Week Engagement | Remote (40 hrs/week, 4+ hrs PST overlap)

Turing — the world's leading AI research accelerator based in San Francisco — is seeking an experienced Aerospace / Flight-Dynamics Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge AI training projects. In this role, you will author and validate aero/flight simulation tasks using industry-standard tools, helping build high-quality technical datasets that power frontier AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author aero/flight tasks and validate designs using tools such as OpenVSP, XFLR5, FlightGear+JSBSim, OpenRocket, and QGroundControl.
  • Develop realistic engineering problem statements, simulation models, calculations, schematics, and supporting technical assets.
  • Build golden geometries and mission plans; score geometry, route, and airframe files.
  • Define inputs, assumptions, constraints, operating conditions, output metrics, and objective acceptance criteria.
  • Validate results through analytical checks and peer-review other engineers' submissions for technical correctness and completeness.
  • Translate technical requirements into simulation models and workflows.
  • Optimize designs based on simulation results and document methodologies, processes, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Aerospace or Flight-Dynamics engineering.
  • Proficiency in at least 2 of the following tools: OpenVSP, XFLR5, FlightGear+JSBSim, OpenRocket, QGroundControl.
  • Experience with scripting for simulation or automation tasks.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and engineering validation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Clear communication of assumptions, constraints, and engineering decisions.
  • Skilled in technical documentation and peer quality assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSc in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a Product Owner or technical lead capacity.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: 40 hours per week with at least 4 hours of PST overlap daily.
  • Employment Type: Contractor assignment (no medical or paid leave benefits).
  • Duration: 5 weeks with immediate onboarding.
