MICRO1 is seeking a highly specialized Physics Expert with deep expertise in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics and the optical properties of materials. This is a contractor role within the sciences research domain, ideal for a researcher or academic professional looking to apply advanced theoretical and computational physics knowledge on a flexible, remote basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply ab initio configuration interaction methods to calculate polarizability in atomic and molecular systems
- Perform atomic-structure calculations specifically for Yb-171 and Yb-174 isotopes
- Identify and differentiate between sigma and pi transitions in optical spectra
- Contribute expert-level insight to research questions in AMO physics and optical material properties
- Collaborate with research teams to validate and interpret computational and experimental results
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong foundational knowledge in Physics, particularly AMO physics
- Hands-on experience with ab initio configuration interaction techniques for polarizability calculations
- Proficiency in atomic-structure calculations for ytterbium isotopes (Yb-171, Yb-174)
- Ability to accurately identify sigma vs. pi transitions in optical systems
- Background in theoretical or computational physics research preferred
