MICRO1 is seeking a highly specialized Physics Expert with deep expertise in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics and the optical properties of materials. This is a contractor role within the sciences research domain, ideal for a researcher or academic professional looking to apply advanced theoretical and computational physics knowledge on a flexible, remote basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply ab initio configuration interaction methods to calculate polarizability in atomic and molecular systems
• Perform atomic-structure calculations specifically for Yb-171 and Yb-174 isotopes
• Identify and differentiate between sigma and pi transitions in optical spectra
• Contribute expert-level insight to research questions in AMO physics and optical material properties
• Collaborate with research teams to validate and interpret computational and experimental results

Required Skills & Expertise

• Strong foundational knowledge in Physics, particularly AMO physics
• Hands-on experience with ab initio configuration interaction techniques for polarizability calculations
• Proficiency in atomic-structure calculations for ytterbium isotopes (Yb-171, Yb-174)
• Ability to accurately identify sigma vs. pi transitions in optical systems
• Background in theoretical or computational physics research preferred
