Physics PhD AI Research Contributor | $70–$180/hr | Remote (US, UK, CA)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research group to engage expert physicists in a cutting-edge project aimed at strengthening AI reasoning capabilities. PhD graduates in Physics from top 50 programs in the US, UK, or Canada are invited to apply. This is a flexible, project-based contractor role requiring approximately 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Solve and evaluate challenging physics problems spanning a range of advanced subfields
• Review AI-generated proofs, derivations, and solutions for correctness, rigor, and clarity
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or unsupported reasoning in model outputs
• Apply relevant citations, principles, and formal reasoning to validate solutions

Ideal Qualifications

• PhD in Physics (not applied physics or engineering) from a top 50 program in the US, UK, or Canada
• Strong graduate-level problem-solving ability across advanced physics topics
• Ability to clearly articulate reasoning, reference relevant theorems, and identify logical gaps
• Currently active in research or academia is a plus
• Available to begin immediately and complete tasks within 24 hours when assigned
