Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to advance expert-level scientific reasoning in frontier AI models. We are seeking experienced plasma and fusion physics professionals to design rigorous problems, review peer submissions, and evaluate AI-generated solutions for scientific accuracy and depth.
What You'll Do
- Design expert-level problems spanning plasma physics and fusion energy topics, including magnetic confinement, tokamak and stellarator design, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), and gyrokinetics
- Review problems authored by peers, assessing clarity, genuine difficulty, and ground-truth correctness
- Evaluate and compare AI model outputs, delivering Accept / Revise / Reject verdicts supported by detailed written rationale
Ideal Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent research experience in plasma physics, fusion energy, nuclear engineering, or a closely related field
- Hands-on experience with magnetic-confinement fusion systems (tokamak or stellarator), MHD, plasma transport, or gyrokinetic simulation
- Strong scientific writing skills and meticulous attention to technical detail
