Pod Lead – Legal, Risk & Compliance | Contract (6 Weeks) | Remote – PST

Turing, the world's leading AI research accelerator based in San Francisco, is seeking a senior legal professional to lead a Pod of 15–20 specialists in developing and refining expert-level legal tasks for frontier AI systems. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for an experienced attorney with a passion for quality, mentorship, and cutting-edge AI work.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 15–20 contributors producing high-difficulty legal tasks and gold-standard solutions.
• Review and calibrate team outputs, maintaining day-to-day quality and consistency across deliverables.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture through clear communication, empathy, and constructive feedback.
• Delegate effectively, coach team members, and resolve conflicts with professionalism and integrity.
• Escalate genuine edge cases and rubric ambiguities to the Functional SME Lead as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 9–12 years of legal practice at Senior Associate, Counsel, or equivalent level.
• JD or equivalent legal qualification with active US bar admission.
• Strong expertise in contract drafting, legal analysis, and regulatory interpretation.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, managing, or quality-assuring legal work.
• Excellent leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
