Mercor is seeking experienced private detectives and investigators to support a leading AI lab in advancing research for next-generation machine learning systems. This unique engagement allows you to contribute your retail loss prevention expertise to cutting-edge AI research while working independently on your own schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Write realistic tasks and scenarios based on your professional experience in retail loss prevention and investigative work
• Create authentic situations involving surveillance operations, shoplifting incidents, theft investigations, and evidence documentation
• Develop scenarios for suspect apprehension, incident reporting, witness interviews, and law enforcement coordination
• Review and evaluate AI responses to retail security queries for accuracy and adherence to professional standards
• Provide detailed feedback on loss prevention scenarios to improve AI training quality

Ideal Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience as a private detective or investigator in retail trade (14+ years preferred)
• Demonstrated professional recognition and management responsibilities
• Proficient with computers and navigating various software systems
• Excellent written communication skills with strong grammar and spelling
• Ability to pass video interview, background check, training, and qualification quiz

Opportunity Details

• Fully remote and asynchronous—complete work on your own schedule
• Expected workload: 20+ hours per week, with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours
• Project duration: approximately 6 weeks, starting immediately
• Independent contractor engagement with hourly compensation paid weekly via Stripe Connect
