Process & Operations Engineering Expert | $75–$100/hr | Remote (US & Canada)

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in process and operations engineering. In this role, you'll design challenging, long-horizon engineering scenarios that mirror real-world ops work — each paired with a deterministic rubric grading agent performance against verifiable ground truth. This is a focused, high-impact part-time contract opportunity for seasoned engineering professionals.

What You'll Do

  • Process Documentation: Develop process flow diagrams and SOPs with clearly defined required steps and control points.
  • Analysis Tasks: Build yield and quality analyses with ground-truth defect rates, and root-cause investigations with documented correct outcomes.
  • FMEA & Improvement Work: Create FMEAs against structured failure-mode checklists, and Six Sigma writeups with verifiable statistical outputs.

Each scenario must have a checkable, objective answer — no open-ended essays or subjective judgment calls. Expect deep focus sessions to produce high-quality, rigorous content.

Who We're Looking For

  • BS or MS in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in process, operations, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Expertise in one or more of: Lean, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), SPC, FMEA, or root cause methodologies (5 Whys, fishbone, 8D).
  • Comfortable producing and interpreting ops-engineering artifacts: process flows, SOPs, FMEAs, project charters, and kaizen reports.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to articulate reasoning step-by-step and encode it into deterministic rubrics.
  • Must be located in the United States or Canada.

Compensation & Growth

Earn $75–$100/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are recognized and promoted based on task quality and throughput.

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
