Psychiatry Expert | $150/hr | Remote (US, UK, Europe, Australia)

Mercor is partnering with one of the world's leading AI laboratories to recruit board-certified psychiatrists for a high-impact AI research project. In this role, you will evaluate and challenge how large language models reason through complex psychiatric cases — designing expert-level diagnostic scenarios that push the boundaries of current AI capabilities and providing authoritative, gold-standard clinical answers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop gold-standard answers with clear, well-documented clinical reasoning
  • Design advanced diagnostic challenges emphasizing edge cases, nuanced differentials, and risk assessment
  • Collaborate directly with research teams at a top-tier AI lab
  • Identify and provide feedback on common failure modes in AI model reasoning

Required Qualifications

  • Completed psychiatry residency (ACGME, AOA, or national equivalent — in-training does not qualify)
  • Medical degree: MD or DO (international degrees accepted)
  • Active board certification in psychiatry: ABPN, FRCPC, MRCPsych, FRANZCP, or recognized national equivalent (board-eligible and lapsed do not qualify)
  • Active, unrestricted medical license with no suspension, revocation, or open disciplinary action
  • 3+ years of independent practice post-residency (current or within the last 2 years; training years excluded)
  • Practice in an accredited or government-licensed setting (hospital, academic center, community clinic, private practice, or telehealth)
  • Based in the US, UK, Europe, or Australia (US preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ direct patient-contact hours per week (current clinical care)
  • Subspecialty depth in Addiction, Child/Adolescent, Forensic, Geriatric, or Consultation-Liaison psychiatry — demonstrated through fellowship, subspecialty board certification, or 2+ years of focused practice
  • OSCE development or examiner experience (candidate experience does not count)
  • Current or recent (within 2 years) faculty appointment in a department of psychiatry

Screening Process

Qualified candidates will complete a short 20–30 minute interview exploring clinical background and subspecialty expertise.

This is a flexible, hourly contractor engagement. Apply today to contribute your psychiatric expertise to the future of AI development.

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
