Python Engineering Manager – LLM Training & Evaluation | Contractor | Remote (LATAM) | ~2 Months

Turing is seeking an experienced Python Engineering Manager to lead large technical teams supporting the development of high-quality Large Language Models (LLMs). This is a hands-on leadership role combining engineering oversight, delivery management, and direct client collaboration within a fast-paced AI infrastructure environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage large teams of Python engineers working on LLM training and evaluation tasks.
  • Oversee execution of Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT), Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), and technical data-generation workflows.
  • Own end-to-end project delivery from initiation through stabilization and ongoing execution.
  • Collaborate with research clients and internal stakeholders to align on requirements and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Establish rigorous review processes to maintain dataset quality and consistency.
  • Conduct hands-on technical reviews and guide teams in improving Python code quality and engineering practices.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to task clarity, methodology, code quality, and implementation bugs.
  • Implement scalable processes to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Mentor engineering leads and foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
  • Track delivery metrics, identify risks, and implement corrective actions proactively.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on Python proficiency.
  • Proven track record managing large technical teams in delivery-oriented environments.
  • Solid understanding of code review, debugging, testing, and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ownership of project outcomes, timelines, and operational performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-facing setting.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Independent Contractor
  • Duration: Approximately 2 months
  • Availability: 40 hours/week preferred; minimum 6 hours Pacific Time overlap daily
  • Location: Remote – LATAM
  • Start: As soon as possible
  • Compensation: Market rate – please provide a specific hourly rate expectation upon applying
