Regulatory Law Expert at Mercor

Regulatory Law Expert | $90–100/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking experienced regulatory law professionals to design evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in regulatory compliance and government affairs environments. This is a high-impact contractor role ideal for senior regulatory attorneys or compliance counsel with deep expertise in US or international regulatory frameworks.

About the Role

Contributors will work across two tracks:

• US Track: Administrative Procedure Act, SEC, FDA, FTC, and other agency-specific statutes
• International Track: EU regulatory frameworks and UK regulatory bodies

Experts qualified in either or both tracks are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Design regulatory law scenarios covering compliance program design, agency investigations, enforcement actions, and rulemaking or comment processes
• Build tasks spanning financial services regulation, healthcare and FDA regulation, antitrust and competition law, data privacy and cybersecurity, and environmental and energy regulation
• Develop scenarios involving regulatory tracking platforms, compliance management systems, and agency filing tools
• Apply regulatory methodologies — including regulatory interpretation, compliance risk assessment, and enforcement response strategy — to produce reference compliance memoranda, regulatory filings, and enforcement response documents
• Author rubrics that distinguish authentic regulatory judgment from generic legal recall

Ideal Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a regulatory attorney or compliance counsel at a major law firm (e.g., Covington & Burling, Sidley Austin, WilmerHale), regulated company, or government agency
• Direct ownership of regulatory compliance programs, agency interactions, or enforcement matters
• Fluency in regulatory tooling and a strong understanding of administrative process and agency rulemaking
• JD with bar admission (or international equivalent) strongly preferred
• Prior experience authoring rubrics, training materials, or compliance documentation is a plus

This is a flexible, remote contractor engagement. Compensation is $90–$100/hr depending on experience and track expertise.
