Research Quality Specialist – Computational Chemistry | Contractor | Remote (Select Countries)

Turing is seeking a PhD-level Computational Chemistry expert to design and solve graduate-level scientific problems that help train and evaluate frontier AI systems. This is a fully remote, 8-week contractor engagement requiring 40 hrs/week with 4 hours of PST overlap.

Role Overview

As a Research Quality Specialist in Computational Chemistry, you will craft challenging, research-grade scientific problems and develop rigorous computational solutions using Python. Your work directly contributes to the quality and reliability of AI training datasets used by leading LLM companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Problem Design & Solutioning: Develop original, research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems involving scientific coding in Python. Define problem categories, tags, and difficulty levels with precision.
  • Rigorous Solutioning: Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and logical coherence throughout the solution path.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in two-tier peer reviews, meticulously evaluating both problems and solutions for accuracy and clarity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with reviewers and team leads, proactively incorporating feedback to refine content and maintain high quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Chemistry
  • At least 1 peer-reviewed publication
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contractor / Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 8 weeks (expected start: next week)
  • Commitment: 40 hrs/week with 4 hours of PST overlap required
