Research Quality Specialist – Material Science | Contractor | 40 hrs/week | Remote (Select Countries)

Turing is seeking a highly analytical, computationally proficient Research Quality Specialist in Material Science to help advance frontier AI model capabilities. This is an 8-week contractor engagement ideal for PhD-level researchers with expertise in computational material science, semiconductor materials, or molecular modeling.

Role Overview

In this role, you will design challenging, research-grade scientific problems and develop rigorous computational solutions using Python. You'll also participate in quality review processes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and logical coherence across all content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Problem Design & Solutioning: Develop original, graduate-level scientific problems involving scientific coding in Python; define problem categories, tags, and difficulty levels.
  • Rigorous Solutioning: Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring absolute accuracy and logical coherence throughout the solution path.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in two-tier reviews, meticulously evaluating the accuracy of both problems and solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work proactively with reviewers and team leads to incorporate feedback, refine content, and maintain high quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Material Science (Semiconductor Materials or Molecular Modeling)
  • At least 1 peer-reviewed publication
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing
  • Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: 40 hrs/week with 4 hours of PST overlap required
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 8 weeks (expected start: next week)
  • Eligible Locations: Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam
