Research Quality Specialist – Computational Physics | Contractor | Remote (Select Countries)

Turing is seeking a highly analytical, PhD-level Computational Physicist to join our AI research team as a Research Quality Specialist. In this role, you will design graduate-level scientific problems, develop rigorous computational solutions in Python, and ensure the highest standards of quality for AI training data. This is a fully remote, 8-week contractor engagement requiring 40 hrs/week with 4 hours of PST overlap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quantitative Problem Design: Develop original, research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems involving scientific coding and Python programming.
  • Problem Categorization: Rigorously define problem categories, secondary tags, and assign appropriate difficulty levels.
  • Solution Development: Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and logical coherence throughout the solution path.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in two-tier reviews, meticulously evaluating the accuracy of both problems and solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work proactively with reviewers and team leads to incorporate feedback, refine content, and enhance overall quality in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Physics
  • At least one peer-reviewed publication
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: 40 hrs/week with 4 hours of PST overlap
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 8 weeks (expected start: next week)
