Robot Transfer Learning Expert (PhD) | $150–200/hr | Worldwide Remote

Join a cutting-edge robotics research initiative as a project-based contractor, contributing to advanced transfer learning and domain adaptation work applied to real-world robotic systems. This is a short-term engagement spanning 2–3 weeks, with an expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week on a fully asynchronous, project-by-project basis.

About the Role

You will work at the intersection of robot learning and domain adaptation, tackling research and engineering challenges across manipulation, locomotion, and perception pipelines. Tasks may include model development, sim-to-real transfer research, and applied domain adaptation work — all contributing to meaningful, publishable-quality outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Develop and refine transfer learning and domain adaptation models for robotic systems
• Contribute to sim-to-real transfer pipelines across manipulation, locomotion, or perception tasks
• Complete assigned research tasks independently and deliver high-quality results asynchronously
• Collaborate on project-based work that advances the state of the art in robot learning

Required Qualifications

• Published researcher with at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed venue (RSS, CoRL, ICRA, NeurIPS, ICML, or equivalent)
• Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• Demonstrated expertise in transfer learning, domain adaptation, or sim-to-real methods applied to robotic systems
• Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work independently on complex technical and research tasks
