Physics AI Research Expert | $20–30/hr | Remote in India

Mercor is partnering with a leading artificial intelligence lab to recruit PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and exceptional Master's graduates in physics and related disciplines for a high-impact AI research initiative. This part-time role (20 hours/week) offers flexible, asynchronous work evaluating AI-generated scientific content.

Key Domains of Expertise:

• Fundamental Physics: Theoretical Mechanics, Theoretical Optics, Statistical Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Physics, Optics and Acoustics
• Modern & Applied Physics: Electromagnetism and Photonics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Solid State Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Biophysics
• Space and Cosmological Sciences: Astrophysics and Cosmology
• Engineering Disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Control Theory and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate scientific correctness, conceptual rigor, and depth of LLM-generated responses across physics and engineering topics
• Review outputs involving mathematical modeling, experimental methods, and theoretical frameworks in physics
• Identify factual errors, reasoning flaws, and conceptual misunderstandings in model outputs
• Benchmark model performance on advanced physics and applied engineering problems
• Work independently and asynchronously using proprietary evaluation tools

Requirements:

• PhD (or PhD candidate) in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field
• Strong command of graduate-level physics and mathematical reasoning
• Excellent written communication and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting
• Strong proficiency in Python, particularly for scientific analysis and model evaluation
