Scientific Coder – Biology & Python | Contractor | Fully Remote | 20–40 hrs/week

Turing is looking for a computationally proficient researcher with a background in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics to help design and solve graduate-level scientific coding problems in Python. This is a fully remote contractor role supporting cutting-edge AI research and training initiatives.

Role Overview

You will contribute by crafting challenging, research-grade scientific problems and devising elegant computational solutions using Python. Your work will directly support the development and evaluation of advanced AI models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design original, research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems involving Python-based scientific coding.
  • Define problem categories, assign difficulty levels, and ensure rigorous logical coherence in all solutions.
  • Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Participate in two-tier peer reviews, evaluating both problems and solutions for quality and correctness.
  • Collaborate with reviewers and team leads, incorporating feedback promptly to refine and improve content.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics.
  • At least one peer-reviewed publication.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing.
  • Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week (options: 20, 30, or 40 hrs/week); at least 4 hrs/day with 4-hour overlap with PST.
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits).
  • Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension based on performance.
