Scientific Coder – Biology & Python | Contractor | Fully Remote | 20–40 hrs/week

Turing is seeking a PhD-level Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician to design and solve research-grade scientific coding problems in Python. This is a fully remote contractor role supporting cutting-edge AI training projects at one of the world's leading AI research accelerators.

Role Overview

You will contribute by crafting challenging, graduate-level scientific problems in your research domain and devising rigorous computational solutions — helping train and evaluate next-generation AI models.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop original, research-grade scientific coding problems using Python within the biology/bioinformatics domain.
• Define problem categories, tags, and appropriate difficulty levels with precision.
• Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring accuracy and logical coherence.
• Participate in two-tier peer reviews, evaluating both problems and solutions for quality.
• Collaborate with reviewers and team leads to incorporate feedback and refine content promptly.

Required Qualifications

• PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics.
• At least 1 peer-reviewed publication.
• Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing.
• Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Engagement Details

• Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week (options: 20, 30, or 40 hrs/week); at least 4 hrs/day with 4-hour overlap with PST.
• Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits).
• Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension based on performance.
• Start Date: Expected next week.
