Turing is seeking a highly analytical, computationally proficient PhD-level physicist to design and solve graduate-level scientific coding problems in Python. This is a fully remote contractor role supporting cutting-edge AI research and training initiatives at one of the world's leading AI research accelerators.

Role Overview

You will contribute by crafting challenging, research-grade scientific problems in Computational Physics and devising elegant, accurate computational solutions using Python — directly supporting AI model training and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop original, research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems involving scientific coding in Python
  • Rigorously define problem categories, secondary tags, and assign appropriate difficulty levels
  • Solve formulated problems using sound scientific principles, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and logical coherence
  • Participate in two-tier peer reviews, evaluating both problems and solutions for quality and correctness
  • Collaborate proactively with reviewers and team leads to incorporate feedback and refine content

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or current PhD Candidate in Computational Physics
  • At least 1 peer-reviewed publication
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scientific computing
  • Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week (options: 20, 30, or 40 hrs/week); at least 4 hrs/day with 4-hour overlap with PST
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension based on performance
  • Start Date: Expected next week
