Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer | $95–130/hr | Redmond, WA (On-Site)

A prestigious tech company's AR/VR research division is seeking a seasoned Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop cutting-edge firmware for a custom System on Chip (SoC). This is a full-time, W-2 role administered through Cincinnatus, placing you directly within a high-impact client team working on next-generation augmented and virtual reality hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware to integrate custom image sensors with a microcontroller unit (MCU)
  • Build firmware interfaces for hardware acceleration blocks and sensors including IMU, barometers, and magnetometers
  • Design and implement bootloaders for embedded systems
  • Create test applications to interface with a wide variety of peripherals
  • Validate firmware against hardware in a hands-on testing environment
  • Produce thorough design documentation and conduct performance analysis

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of firmware or embedded software development experience using C/C++
  • 2+ years developing drivers for camera sensors on new integrated circuits (ICs)
  • 2+ years developing firmware for multi-core SoCs or MCUs
  • Experience with Zephyr OS, Embedded Linux, or other real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MIPI C-PHY and image sensor integration
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: I3C, SPI, UART, USB
  • Experience with Embedded Linux kernel drivers and file systems
  • Familiarity with bootloaders on small MCUs and larger SoCs
  • Experience with low-power optimization of embedded systems
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Master's degree preferred
