Senior JavaScript/React Engineer – AI Training | Contractor | Remote (US Only)

Join Turing, the world's leading AI research accelerator, as a Software Engineering Evaluator focused on training and benchmarking frontier large language models. This flexible contractor role is ideal for experienced engineers passionate about AI and cutting-edge software development.

About Turing

Headquartered in San Francisco, Turing partners with leading AI labs and global enterprises to accelerate frontier AI research and deploy advanced AI systems. Our team specializes in software engineering, logical reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and intelligent agents.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineering Evaluator, you will curate high-quality datasets, evaluate AI-generated code, and collaborate with researchers to push the boundaries of what large language models can do — with a strong emphasis on JavaScript, ReactJS, and systems-level programming.

What You'll Do

  • Curate code examples, build solutions, and correct code across Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript (including ReactJS).
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code for correctness, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to benchmark and improve AI-driven coding solutions.
  • Build agents to verify quality and identify error patterns in systems-level and infrastructure code.
  • Analyze software engineering lifecycle stages — from prototyping and architecture design to production, monitoring, and maintenance — and assess model capabilities across them.
  • Design automated verification mechanisms for software engineering tasks.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in systems programming, infrastructure, or backend development (Python, C/C++, Rust, Go).
  • Proven experience building and deploying scalable, production-grade software.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, debugging, and code quality assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for structured evaluation rationales.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: Flexible — minimum 10 hrs/week, up to 40 hrs/week
  • Type: Contractor (no medical/paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 1 month, with potential extensions based on performance
  • Location: Must be based in the United States

Application Process

The application takes approximately 15–30 minutes and includes an AI video interview. We welcome candidates with experience at frontier AI organizations and graduates from top academic institutions — though exceptional skill always takes precedence over pedigree.
