Senior Software Engineer | $120–150/hr | Menlo Park, CA (Part-Time)

Join a leading technology team as a Senior Software Engineer, applying advanced principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to design, develop, test, and evaluate software systems. This is a structured, role-based part-time position administered through Cincinnatus, an enterprise staffing company placing skilled professionals within high-impact client teams.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve modifications to existing databases and database management systems.
• Direct database development efforts, approving project scope, limitations, and timelines.
• Guide staff in writing and coding logical and physical database descriptions and identifiers.
• Evaluate project requests to estimate time and cost requirements based on user needs.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure.
• Approve, schedule, and supervise the installation and testing of new systems and product improvements.
• Develop standards and guidelines governing software acquisition, use, and information security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required.
• Expert knowledge of the full software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and analysis through development, testing, and delivery.
• Strong proficiency in database and development technologies such as SQL, Visual Basic, and related systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective system-level solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and mentor junior team members.
• Deep understanding of computer hardware, software systems, and enterprise workflows.
