About the Role

Engineers on this initiative work across two closely related tracks:

• Connectors Track: Build Python backend applications that faithfully replicate real-world SaaS tools — Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, Gmail, wikis, and other enterprise platforms — so AI agents can be tested in realistic digital-work environments.
• Tasks Track: Mine real data and workflows to author long-horizon tasks, then validate their quality, realism, and correctness through rigorous QA and rubric writing.

Strong candidates are generalist backend engineers comfortable moving across both tracks. Proficiency with AI coding tools is a firm requirement for all engineers on this initiative.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend Python backend applications that replicate existing SaaS tools, including REST APIs, integrations, and full-service backend functionality.
• Perform thorough backend testing and integration validation to ensure connectors behave faithfully like the systems they emulate.
• Build new connectors from scratch within agreed delivery timeframes.
• Conduct data and task mining to identify representative workflows for long-horizon task development.
• Author realistic tasks derived from mined data and workflows.
• Verify task and data quality through structured QA processes.
• Write clear evaluation rubrics defining correct, partially correct, and deficient outputs.
• Use AI coding assistants proficiently throughout all development, QA, and validation work.
• Collaborate across tracks and participate in onboarding, calibration, and quality-review cycles.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python with proven backend software development experience.
• Experience building scalable backend applications, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with backend testing, debugging, and integration validation.
• Proficiency using AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex) in daily workflows.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices: version control, testing, and code quality.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently within distributed, asynchronous engineering teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience building connectors or integrations for SaaS platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise tools such as Slack, Jira, Linear, Notion, Gmail, or Confluence.
• Background in data mining, task mining, or AI training data generation.
• Knowledge of QA methodologies, evaluation frameworks, and rubric creation for AI datasets.
• Experience developing workflows for long-horizon AI tasks.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools like Docker.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Understanding of LLM evaluation, prompt engineering, or model fine-tuning workflows.
• Prior work on AI data annotation, synthetic data generation, or benchmark creation.
