Shopify & SQL Expert at Mercor

Shopify & SQL Expert | $60/hr | Worldwide Remote

Join Mercor in a part-time contractor role reviewing real merchant conversations with Shopify's Sidekick AI assistant. You'll analyze analytics and segmentation queries, identify errors, and help improve the quality of AI-generated responses for Shopify merchants.

What You'll Do

• Review multi-turn merchant ↔ agent conversations, including tool-call cards and returned data
• Identify the query or segment filter the assistant generated and determine the correct version
• Categorize response failures (wrong metric, dimension, filter, unsupported report, etc.)
• Write concise, objective explanations of what went wrong and why
• Commit approximately 5–10 hours per week on a flexible schedule

Required Qualifications

• Strong general SQL skills — comfortable reading, writing, and critiquing queries including WHERE vs HAVING, GROUP BY, ORDER BY/LIMIT, joins, and aggregations
• Ability to review a query and clearly articulate what it returns and what errors it contains

Strongly Preferred

• Hands-on Shopify merchant experience — you've run or operated a Shopify store and understand how merchants use analytics and segmentation
• First-hand experience using Shopify's Sidekick AI assistant

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Shopify Analytics and ShopifyQL, including schemas (sales, payments, sessions, fulfillments, customers)
• Understanding of metric nuances (e.g., net_items_sold vs quantity_ordered) and the Shopify segmentation model
• General e-commerce or analytics operations experience

Training on Shopify-specific details will be provided — strong SQL and merchant intuition are the most important foundations for success in this role.
