Site Reliability Engineer | $100–$160/hr | Remote (US Only)

Mercor is seeking experienced Site Reliability Engineers to help evaluate and train AI models on real-world infrastructure challenges. You'll draw on your production expertise to author and review complex scenarios covering incident response, root cause analysis, observability, and operational best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Design and review realistic, production-grounded scenarios involving system failures, monitoring, and remediation
  • Apply your on-call and incident response experience to assess how well AI systems diagnose and resolve infrastructure-level problems
  • Contribute to post-mortem processes, capacity planning evaluations, and alerting strategy reviews
  • Collaborate closely with project leadership during an active pilot phase

You're a Great Fit If You:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or production engineering at a major tech company or leading startup
  • Have served in on-call rotations managing Tier 1/Tier 2 services with meaningful SLA requirements
  • Are experienced with incident response and structured RCA (root cause analysis) processes
  • Are proficient with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or PagerDuty
  • Have deep knowledge of Linux systems, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing), and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Have hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Possess strong debugging skills across the full stack — from application-level tracing to kernel-level diagnostics
  • Are currently based in the United States

Project Details

This role begins in late March, with potential for additional openings in April. The project is in a pilot phase, and participants are expected to be highly engaged with project leadership throughout.

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
