Mercor is building a more accurate, practitioner-informed version of O*NET — the U.S. government's official framework for describing occupations. We're seeking experienced software developers to share insights about their day-to-day work, helping improve how this profession is represented nationally.

About the Role

This is a one-time, paid online survey/interview lasting up to 30 minutes. You'll answer questions about your real-world experience as a software developer — covering design, coding, architecture, and deployment. An optional follow-up task or short interview may be offered separately and compensated additionally.

What You'll Do

• Complete a one-time online survey about your day-to-day responsibilities as a software developer (up to 30 minutes)
• Optionally participate in a follow-up survey or short interview (paid separately)

Who We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience specifically as a software developer
• Currently working in the role, or within the last 12 months
• Direct, hands-on knowledge of software design, coding, and deployment
• Based in the United States

This Role Is Specifically for Software Developers (SOC 15-1252.00)

Software developers research, design, and build software systems and applications. They analyze user needs, architect solutions, define specifications, direct testing, and own design decisions — spanning the full development lifecycle.

This study excludes:

• Web Developers (15-1254.00) — whose primary focus is building and maintaining websites or web interfaces
• Computer Programmers (15-1251.00) — who implement designs provided by others rather than authoring the design themselves
• Software QA analysts, IT support, systems administrators, systems analysts, systems engineers, and IT managers
