AFTERQUERY is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join Project Pluto — a contract role ideal for systems-savvy developers who thrive in Unix-like environments and love building clean, reproducible, containerized workflows.

What You'll Do

You'll work on building and maintaining reliable software systems, contributing to containerized development environments and ensuring setups are well-documented and thoroughly tested. You'll be expected to write solid Bash scripts, work comfortably in the terminal, and help the team ship dependable, reproducible solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with Linux/Unix command-line tools and Bash scripting
• 1+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized development environments

Nice to Have

• Experience writing technical documentation and automated tests
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Compensation

$25 – $50 per hour, depending on experience and scope of work.
