Software Engineering Document Contributor at Mercor

Software Engineering Document Contributor | $80–100/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking experienced software engineers and technical professionals to contribute high-quality, human-authored engineering documents for a curated document review program. Contributors will submit up to 10 documents for initial sample review, with compensation of $100 per accepted document and the potential for ongoing, scaled engagement.

Priority Document Types

• Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
• Architecture documents & RFCs
• API specifications
• Design reviews
• Migration plans
• Incident postmortems
• Runbooks & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Customer technical proposals
• Release & change management plans

Document Quality Standards

• Format: True .docx source files only
• Visual polish: Consistent typography, aligned tables and figures, clear hierarchy — suitable for external, executive, legal, or investor audiences
• Substance: Documents should reflect approximately 5–10+ hours of professional effort, demonstrated through structure, finish, and commercial usefulness — not length alone
• Features: Diagrams, code/config snippets, decision tables, ownership/status tables, and RFC-style hierarchy are strongly encouraged
• Authenticity: Real-world professional work only — no synthetic documents or fabricated data

Exclusions

• Simple notes, short unstyled briefs, or lightly formatted drafts
• Documents using identical templates, letterheads, or style systems

Privacy & IP Requirements

Only submit materials you personally created and have the full legal right to share. Documents owned by current or former employers, subject to confidentiality restrictions, or copyrighted by another party cannot be accepted. All PII, confidential information, and sensitive material must be fully removed prior to submission.
