We are seeking an experienced SolidWorks Specialist to join our team as a contractor. This role is ideal for a mechanical design expert with deep proficiency in parametric CAD modeling, manufacturing processes, and design documentation. You will work on a variety of complex engineering projects requiring precision, creativity, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies, and feature trees
- Apply GD&T standards and tolerance specifications to mechanical designs
- Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis across processes including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, casting, and forging
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation and project records
- Execute reverse engineering and scan-to-CAD workflows
- Edit and optimize existing CAD models for improved performance and manufacturability
- Leverage automation tools such as Python, iLogic, and VBA to streamline design workflows
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams through clear written and verbal communication
Required Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and parametric CAD modeling
- Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM principles, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with injection molding, sheet metal design, CNC machining, casting, and forging
- Proficiency in assembly modeling and feature tree management
- Familiarity with Python, iLogic, and/or VBA for design automation
- Solid reverse engineering and scan-to-CAD capabilities
- Excellent project documentation and communication skills
