Sr. Front End Developer | Contractor | Remote (Select Countries)
Turing is seeking a Senior Front End Engineer with deep expertise in React and Next.js to build scalable, high-performance user interfaces for reinforcement learning (RL) environment platforms. This is a fully remote contractor role requiring 40 hours/week with a 4-hour PST overlap.

Role Overview
You will own UI development, contribute to backend integrations, and drive frontend architecture decisions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, backend, and QA to deliver maintainable, performant applications.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Build scalable, reusable, high-performance frontend applications using React
- Develop and maintain UI components and design systems
- Integrate with Python (FastAPI) backend services via REST APIs
- Optimize performance, scalability, and responsiveness across browsers
- Participate in architecture discussions and conduct code reviews
- Ensure code quality through testing and engineering best practices
- Mentor junior developers and support overall team growth
Requirements
- 5+ years of frontend development experience
- Strong expertise in React.js, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience with state management tools (Redux, Context API, etc.)
- Solid experience with REST APIs and backend integration
- Working knowledge of Python and backend concepts (FastAPI preferred)
- Experience building scalable applications and reusable UI architectures
- Familiarity with Git, build tools (Webpack/Vite), and testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
- Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and Agile workflows
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with micro frontend architecture and design systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices (Docker, CI/CD)
- Exposure to authentication/authorization systems
- Experience with performance monitoring or data-driven applications
Engagement Details
- Commitment: 40 hours/week with 4-hour PST overlap
- Type: Contractor (no medical/paid leave benefits)
- Duration: 2 months (adjustable based on engagement)
