Sr. Python Engineer – Agent Development | Contractor | Remote (India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Bangladesh, Turkey, Mexico)
Turing is seeking a hands-on Senior Python Engineer specializing in AI agent development to build and orchestrate production-grade AI systems. This is a short-term contractor role (3–4 months) requiring 8 hours/day with at least 4 hours of PST overlap.

Role Overview
As an Engineering Lead, you will drive the development of scalable AI agent infrastructure, lead a squad of engineers, and contribute directly to the codebase (50%+ individual contribution expected). You'll design agentic workflows, build evaluation frameworks, and operationalize GenAI models in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Agent Orchestration & Evaluation: Design and build scalable infrastructure to orchestrate complex AI agents and run high-volume automated evaluations.
- Engineering Leadership: Manage a squad of AI and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features on schedule.
- Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to architecture design, infrastructure management, and API contract definition.
- System Architecture: Design scalable, low-latency systems using the best tools for each use case.
- Polyglot Engineering: Work across Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and other languages (Go, Rust, Java) as needed.
- AI Implementation: Operationalize GenAI models and convert experimental workflows into stable production services.
- Data Pipelines: Implement fast data pipelines and contribute to infrastructure planning.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience building autonomous AI agents and scalable evaluation frameworks.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript (Node.js/TypeScript).
- Ability to read, debug, and write code in multiple languages (Java, C++, Go, etc.).
- Prior experience leading software engineering teams or serving as a tech lead.
- Solid understanding of GenAI concepts, RAG pipelines, and inference optimization.
- Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
- Pragmatic problem-solving mindset focused on simplicity and user value.
