Subject Matter Expert — Enterprise Finance & Operations | Contractor | Remote (US) | ~15 hrs/week

Turing is seeking experienced US-based finance and accounting professionals to contribute senior domain expertise to AI data curation projects for frontier AI models and labs. This is a senior reviewer role focused on evaluating complex financial and operational scenarios, developing evaluation frameworks, and advising client teams on AI model outputs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead senior-level review of complex and ambiguous finance, accounting, and operational business cases.
  • Facilitate structured resolution of disagreements among reviewers.
  • Contribute to the development of financial evaluation frameworks.
  • Provide expert advisory hours to client teams reviewing AI model outputs.
  • Author standards-aligned financial and operational commentary on cases as needed.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across accounting, finance, tax, and business operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in finance, accounting, or operations at a US-based company, with exposure to retail, e-commerce, or consumer brands.
  • Background in one or more of the following: Investment Banking (Retail/Consumer Coverage), Big 4 Audit or Advisory, Corporate FP&A, Controllership, or DTC/E-commerce Operations.
  • CPA and/or CFA strongly preferred.
  • Direct familiarity with US GAAP, US tax structures (sales tax nexus, 1099s, W-2s), and US employment practices.
  • Practical knowledge of month-end close, board reporting, vendor negotiations, and fulfillment cycles.
  • Experience with tools such as Shopify, QuickBooks, Zendesk, HubSpot, Workday, Slack, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong written communication and numerical attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and document reviewer consensus with disciplined adherence to project protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to AI evaluation, digital transformation, fintech, or business process automation.
  • Experience reviewing financial documentation, audit materials, or operational workflows.
  • Experience mentoring or managing finance and accounting professionals.

Engagement Details

  • Independent contractor (1099); compensation based on experience and expertise.
  • Anticipated average of 15 hours/week; up to 40 hours/week during peak batches.
  • Fully remote and asynchronous, with occasional synchronous calls.
  • Project duration: approximately 4 weeks, with potential for extension.
  • NDA required upon engagement; detailed scope shared after NDA execution.
