Subject Matter Expert - Tax at Turing

Subject Matter Expert – Tax | Contractor | Fully Remote | ~40 hrs/week

Turing is seeking experienced tax professionals to help train and evaluate AI systems on tax preparation, compliance, and corporate tax workflows. This is a short-term contractor engagement (4 weeks) with an expected start date of next week.

Role Overview

You'll apply your deep tax expertise to create realistic tax scenarios, evaluate AI-generated reasoning, and help improve how AI systems handle complex tax workflows — including tools like TurboTax, ProConnect, GoSystem Tax RS, and ONESOURCE.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Create tax workflow prompts and synthetic tax return scenarios
• Evaluate AI-generated tax reasoning and calculations for accuracy
• Identify edge cases such as deduction errors, apportionment issues, and ASC 740 miscalculations
• Build expert rubrics and detailed reasoning traces to guide AI improvement

Requirements

• 4–12 years of experience in individual, business, or corporate tax
• Hands-on experience with TurboTax, ProConnect, GoSystem Tax RS, and/or ONESOURCE
• Strong knowledge of US tax law and GAAP fundamentals
• Excellent written communication skills
• CPA or EA designation strongly preferred

Nice to Have

• Corporate tax provision or multi-state tax experience
• Prior AI evaluation or large language model (LLM) experience
• Familiarity with tax AI tools and automation platforms

Engagement Details

• Type: Contractor (no medical benefits or paid leave)
• Duration: 4 weeks
• Hours: 40 hours/week with at least 4 hours of daily overlap with PST
• Environment: Fully remote
