SWE Bench Data Engineer / Data Scientist | Contractor | Remote (India, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria & more)

Turing is seeking experienced Data Engineers and Data Scientists to contribute to benchmark-driven AI evaluation projects. You'll work on real-world data pipelines and data science workflows that help measure and improve the performance of cutting-edge AI systems. This is a part-time contractor role requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week with 4 hours of PST overlap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support SWE Bench-style evaluation tasks.
  • Design, build, and validate data pipelines for benchmarking and evaluation workflows.
  • Perform data processing, feature preparation, and validation for data science use cases.
  • Write, run, and modify Python code to process data and support experiments locally.
  • Evaluate data quality, transformations, and outputs for correctness and reproducibility.
  • Create clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows suitable for benchmarking.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging real-world data tasks for AI evaluation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or data-focused Software Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and data science workflows.
  • Solid experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning and data science fundamentals.
  • Experience working with both structured and unstructured data.
  • Ability to navigate and modify complex, real-world codebases.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contractor (no medical/paid leave)
  • Duration: 3 months (adjustable based on engagement)
  • Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week with 4 hrs daily PST overlap
  • Eligible Locations: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Bangladesh, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico

Evaluation Process

  • Technical interview with a live coding challenge (60 minutes)
