Key Responsibilities

• Annotate tax forms (e.g., W-2, 1040, 1099, VAT returns) using Label Studio or comparable platforms.
• Draw precise bounding boxes and apply structured label schemas to document fields.
• Define and document field metadata including format constraints and validation rules.
• Map and tag relationships between related fields using edge/relationship tagging.
• Review and validate annotation exports using JSON and YAML.
• Interpret unfamiliar tax form types independently using authoritative guidelines (IRS, financial institutions, or equivalent).

Requirements

Tax & Domain Knowledge

• Solid understanding of tax form structures and field dependencies (income lines, deductions, credits, totals).
• Working knowledge of IRS or equivalent tax authority form-filling guidelines.
• Ability to independently research and interpret unfamiliar form types.

Annotation & Technical Skills

• Experience with Label Studio or similar document annotation tools.
• Proficiency in bounding box annotation and structured labeling.
• Understanding of data types: text, date, currency, checkbox, enumerations.
• Familiarity with JSON/YAML for reviewing and validating annotation outputs.
• Experience defining field schemas and validation rules.

Nice to Have

• Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation.
• Prior experience creating training data for document AI systems.

Engagement Details

• Commitment: Up to 40 hours/week
