Technical Expert – Software Engineering | $90–$120/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is looking for experienced software engineers to help shape the next generation of AI systems by training and evaluating advanced models on coding and technical reasoning tasks. This is a flexible contract role ideal for engineers who enjoy problem-solving, code review, and technical writing.

What You'll Do

• Review and evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, readability, security, and maintainability
• Create high-quality programming prompts and technical challenges to improve AI model performance
• Assess model outputs across a wide range of software engineering domains
• Provide clear, expert feedback to guide AI training and evaluation pipelines

Areas of Focus

• Algorithms and data structures
• Systems design and software architecture
• Debugging and code quality
• Databases and APIs
• Cloud infrastructure and full-stack development

Ideal Candidate

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience across one or more of the above domains
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical reasoning clearly
• Detail-oriented with a passion for code quality and technical accuracy
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
