Technical Writing Specialist | $90–140/hr | Worldwide Remote

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writing Specialist to create clear, accurate, and well-structured documentation for developer and mixed technical audiences. This is a contractor role offering competitive hourly compensation and full remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality developer documentation and API documentation that is accurate, accessible, and easy to navigate
• Design and maintain information architecture for documentation systems, ensuring logical structure and discoverability
• Implement and follow Docs-as-Code workflows, integrating documentation into development pipelines
• Develop and enforce style guides to ensure consistency across all documentation
• Edit and review technical content for clarity, grammar, and technical accuracy
• Synthesize complex technical information into digestible content for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to gather and validate information

Required Skills

• Proven experience in technical writing and technical communication
• Strong background in API documentation and developer-facing content
• Familiarity with Docs-as-Code tools and methodologies (e.g., Git, Markdown, static site generators)
• Experience creating and maintaining style guides
• Exceptional attention to detail and editing skills
• Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information for mixed audiences
