Bioinformatics Task Executor (UGENE) | Pay-per-task | Remote | ~5-week project

About the role

You will use UGENE to complete assigned sequence-analysis and molecular-biology workflows. You will receive the required files, values, and step-by-step instructions, and execute them exactly as provided. Tasks may include sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, plasmid annotation, workflow execution, and result export. You will save the requested outputs, record your screen when required, and report any ambiguity or mismatch without guessing or improvising.

What the work involves

• Open provided sequence files, plasmid maps, alignments, and tree files in UGENE.
• Perform instructed operations such as MUSCLE or ClustalW alignments, tree building, plasmid annotation, and workflow execution.
• Inspect sequence data, annotations, alignments, and analysis results for task-specific verification.
• Export aligned FASTA files, annotated GenBank files, reports, screenshots, and other requested outputs.
• Save all files using the specified names and locations to ensure completion traceability.
• Record the screen when required and report unexpected results, unclear instructions, or application mismatches.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with UGENE, including opening files, running analyses, inspecting annotations, and exporting results.
• Familiarity with common bioinformatics file formats such as FASTA, GenBank, SAM/BAM, and VCF at an operator level.
• Ability to execute sequence-analysis workflows accurately and follow instructions in the specified order.
• Strong attention to detail, avoiding unnecessary clicks, changes, submissions, or assumptions.
• A reliable remote setup for screen recording, application access, and file delivery.
• Clear written English communication, reporting ambiguities instead of guessing.
