Voice Recording Specialist - New England Accent at Mercor

Voice Recording Specialist | $25–35/hr | Remote (US, UK, Canada)

We're seeking native speakers with authentic New England accents (New York and Boston) to contribute voice recordings for a cutting-edge multilingual AI platform. This short-term project involves recording natural phone conversations where you'll spell out names, emails, and phone numbers—similar to speaking with customer support.

Project Overview:

Record approximately 3 hours of phone audio by calling a demo line and completing short sessions. You'll work through different scenarios and environments including quiet settings, muffled voice, and speaker-mode variations to create realistic training data.

How It Works:

• Call a provided demo line to record short sessions (caller side only)
• Speak naturally with varied tone, pace, and include realistic pauses or filler words ("umm," "let's see," etc.)
• Must use real phone calls (no VoIP) with some background noise for authenticity

Requirements:

• Must be based in USA, Canada, or UK (no international calling reimbursement)
• Must have an authentic New England accent (New York or Boston)
• Access to a traditional phone line (no VoIP services)

Deliverables:

• Up to 30 phone calls across 6 variations (~180 total calls)
• Record and submit codes provided during calls
• Complete metadata entry in shared spreadsheet including: Speaker ID, gender, age group, primary language, and geographic ethnicity

Timeline:

Complete 3 hours of conversation recordings by December 28th.
